Activities Fact Sheet Manchester Village, Vermont – Spend your morning maneuvering a 4-wheel drive vehicle on rough terrain, mid-day practicing your aim with recurve bows and your afternoon in the field hunting alongside a majestic hawk. For the ultimate outdoor Vermont adventure, The Equinox offers a variety of activities that combine distinct sports programs in a picturesque setting. The resort’s unique activities provide opportunities to master falconry, experience the thrill of off-road driving or play a leisurely round of golf. The British School of Falconry: At the nation’s first school of its kind to offer hands-on lessons, guests of The Equinox are invited to try one of the world’s oldest sports in the beautiful setting of Hildene Meadows and enhance their appreciation of these magnificent birds. During a session at The British School of Falconry, guests will be trained how to handle and fly Harris hawks, take their hawk into the hunting field and learn how to work in harmony with a specially trained dog and gain knowledge of the importance of falconers in the conservation of raptors. Introductory lessons, “hawk walks” and hunts are offered in one-off lessons and packages. Innovative team-building sessions are also available for groups. The Land Rover Experience Driving School: The school is open year round and features off-road driving instruction in all conditions. Participants experience numerous challenges on the 80-acre purpose-built course, with an extensive trail system for exploration. Here guests learn techniques on ascents, descents, side tilts and rocky terrain. The degree of difficulty is matched to the driver’s skill, and more advanced drivers are invited to explore our expansive trails through the stunning Green Mountains. Also available at Equinox is a Kid's Adventure Course, with safely guided mini-Land Rover instruction for youths aged 5-12 years. Land Rover Experiences are available in one-off lessons, two-hour trails, Full Day and Scenic Drives, Corporate Activities and Special Activities tailored to events such as weddings. The Archery School: Guests are offered the rare opportunity to learn this ancient sport under skilled supervision. The program is the first of its kind at a resort in New England and caters to archers of all levels. Based in the picturesque Hildene Meadows, the school’s team of instructors specializes in teaching adults, teenagers and children ages 8 and up how to master recurve bows at the school’s specially constructed archery range. More advanced archers have the opportunity to be led on a woodland trail where they can take aim at realistic animal targets to test their accuracy. Archery options include Introductory Lessons, Field Lessons, Corporate Challenges and Tournaments. The Golf Club: Managed by Troon Golf®, the leader in upscale golf course management it was named one of the "Top 75 courses in the U.S." by Golf Digest, and 10th in New England in The New England Golf Journal's listing of the "100 Best Public Courses in New England". Guests are invited to pursue their passion for the sport while enjoying the crisp mountain air and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The Par-71, 6423-yard Vermont gem of a course boasts challenging play on every fairway, bunker and green. Guests may make tee times upon confirming their hotel reservations, while visiting public may make tee times no more than seven days prior to date of play. Lessons are available and soft spikes are required. Orvis Fly Fishing School: Available April 14th through October 14th, guests may pursue outdoor precision at the Orvis Fly Fishing School at The Equinox. The school teaches tactics for stream fishing on the resort’s private ponds as well as on the Battenkill River where guests learn how to correctly fish with different types of flies. Using video-recording equipment to monitor and analyze each student's casting technique, our flagship school offers rods, reels, lines, waders, and fishing vests for the entire program. Courses include Two-Day Workshops, Corporate Sessions and Guided Trips. Orvis Shooting School: Available July 23rd through October 19th, novices and seasoned veterans can take advantage of the Orvis School’s instinctive approach to shotgunning, based on the English Churchill method. Guests are exposed to a complete shooting system applicable to upland hunting, waterfowling, and sporting clays. Courses include Individual Wing-Shooting Instruction and Two-Day Workshops. The Spa at The Equinox offers yoga and Pilates classes at its Movement studio as well as water aerobics in the Olympic sized indoor pool. The Spa also features a state of the art fitness facility and complimentary use of hybrid bikes for road riding and off-road trails. Winter Activities include skiing at Bromley Mountain and Stratton, sleigh rides, ice skating, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and snow-mobiling. The tennis courts and swimming pool at The Equinox are indoor and available for use year-round. Summer Activities available at The Equinox include tennis, fishing, boating and canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, walking and jogging trails. Manchester Village: In its early days, it was the exclusive playground of the rich and famous. The Equinox still serves, as it did then, as the centerpiece of this elegant and affluent village. Everything in Manchester Village is well manicured and pleasing to the eye, offers countless shops of every variety and includes several very impressive dining establishments.
